Moorlands Tree & Groundcare

Moorlands Tree and Groundcare was founded by myself, Charles Piggott, in April 2001 a few months before I changed from full to part time work in the NHS as a GP. Having spent my early life in a rural community, and all my spare time working on a neighbouring farm, I already had experience in a variety of arboricultural tasks. Having been fortunate enough to move to a smallholding in 1989 I had begun to undertake tree felling and pruning for my own needs but also occasionally for friends, just for the enjoyment (and the firewood!) I decided in early 2001 to have a partial career change and moved to a local post as part time GP, freeing up half of my week to turn professional with a chainsaw. I now also work many weekends to keep up with the work, or when customer need dictates, eg commercial premises. I have had formal training in use of a chainsaw both on ground, felling trees, and in a tree working from a rope and harness. I hold an NPTC certificate of competence and full arial tree surgery certification. My customer base has expanded better than I would have dared to hope, with the vast majority of work coming by word of mouth recommendation. I have a wide base of happy domestic and commercial clients and so providing references is not a problem if required. The majority of the work I undertake is in and around the Staffordshire Moorlands (including Stoke on Trent) however I frequently travel further and have worked in Cheshire, Shropshire, Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire, and am always happy to do so provided that the job justifies it. As outlined in our Health and Safety section, all of our operations are covered by Public Liability Insurance for £5,000,000. I strive to offer honest, useful advice and always put the client's needs before my own - that is to say, I will recommend the necessary work and nothing more. I am punctual and reliable, keeping to my word, sticking to appointment times and I give a realistic timescale for work to be carried out.
