  Jill Clewes Performing Arts has still the best reputation in the area, the review above is untrue, the emphasis on ensuring children get the correct training is 110%, I know, my child was trained in ballet incorrectly not knowing the basic grounding, and is now being trianed correctly. The staff are all lovely and extra lessons are only required for shows so that it doesnt interfere with the syllabus training which is why the comments above dont make sense!

• Dancing

  I am a student at Jill Clewes and have been since I was 2, It is one of the only dance schools in the area that allows students to take to the stage at the Regent theatre with out audition. I am now in high grades and do most dances in the shows, also helping to teach young ones. I also go to Manchester Schollars where I meet up with other young dancers from other dance schools and Jill Clewes always seems to come out on top! I am hoping to become a dancer and Jill clewes makes you put in the effort but it is worth it in the end. My 2 sisters also go and we all love it! I would recommend it to anyone. GO JILL xxxx

• Shame the emphasis has changed

  When I was younger Jill Clewes always had a fantastic reputation. However now I have my own children I am sad to say that the emphasis has changed. It is too much about glitzy costumes and extra rehearsals and too little about training and having fun. My daughter now goes to a dance studio where extra lessons and rehearsals are not required to do exams or be in their shows. It is all covered in class and that is what youpay for.
